Headstone & Memorial Cards
♱ Headstones
The development of technology has resulted in a significant change in the materials used for headstones, also called “Gravestones.” In the past, headstones were made from stone, wood or metal. However, in more recent times they are usually made from granite, marble or bronze.
Here are the most common types of Headstones used in cemeteries worldwide:
- Bevel Headstone: Stone that is slanted at the top and has a beveled edge.
- Celtic Cross: Stone in the shape of a Celtic cross.
- Cross: Stone in the shape of the Cross of Christ.
- Flat Headstone: Stone that lies flush with the ground.
- Footstone: Stone placed at the foot of the grave, often bearing the initials of the deceased.
- Ledger Headstone: Stone that lies horizontally on the ground.
- Slanted Headstone: Stone set at an angle rather than being flush with the ground.
- Statue Headstone: Stone sculpture.
- Upright Headstone: Stone that stands upright on a base.

♱ Memorial Cards
Memorial Cards, also referred to as “Funeral Cards” serve as a lasting keepsake to honor the deceased. They provide important details such as date of birth, date of death, picture of the deceased, scripture quote and holy images. This keepsake assists people to mourn the loss of their loved one and more importantly, it provides a reminder to continue to pray for their immortal soul.
